Transitional Housing

Empowerment Opportunity Center currently operates a transitional housing program for chronically homeless individuals. These individuals are selected from the Continuum’s Homeless Action Team (CHAT) list. The individuals reside in single room occupancy homes with shared common areas. The individuals in the program participate in intensive case management intended to work them towards being able to maintain permanent housing within two years.

Emergency Shelter

When funds are available, Empowerment Opportunity Center can shelter low-income homeless families in an area motel and provide meals for a limited amount of time. During that time, the family is required to work toward stabilizing their family and look for a more permanent place to stay. The Emergency/Transitional Housing Grant through the Illinois Department of Human Services provides for the cost of shelter and some meals.
